Born in 1948 at the foot of Mount Psiloritis, nothing suggested that Odysseas Platirachos would pursue his future on a different island. While everything pointed towards him following his shepherd father’s profession, another passion smouldered within him: that of journalism! However, it was not in Greece that his writing talent flourished, but in Australia! There, as an expatriate, he became a prominent figure in the Cretan community, contributing through the press and radio to bridge his homeland with the Antipodes, earning him the fitting title: “the Psiloritis of journalism in Australia”!
