Panagiota Misiri’s life began to unfold in the Fifth Continent, as she left the village of Psathopyrgos in Achaia for a “brave new world.” Having faced the horrors of war as a young girl, this resilient woman fought to make a new life in a country she would come to call her own. She endured poverty and loss, alongside the uncertainty of a young woman migrant in an unfamiliar land. She worked tirelessly in workshops and factories to provide for her children. In the Greece of her past, she had laid the groundwork for her life as a seamstress in Psathopyrgos; it is in Australia, however, that she fashioned a future for herself.
