Though born in Australia, Patricia Kapsali – later Economou – was raised with strong Greek traditions, learning the Greek language and the teachings of the Orthodox Christian faith from a young age. She grew up during a time when few Greek Orthodox churches had been established in the Antipodes, with the Greek community fighting fervently for their right to worship. Patricia’s family also fought for this right, and her life became deeply and permanently connected to the construction of the Church of St Spyridon in Kingsford, Sydney – a beacon for Greek Orthodox believers in the Diaspora.
