Anastasia Cockinos’ life took her on a journey from the picturesque narrow streets of the Kastella neighbourhood in Piraeus to the vast avenues of Sydney. In Australia, she worked tirelessly in milk bars, teaching herself how to navigate the bureaucracy of a foreign country and gradually building a future that eventually bore fruit. One of her greatest achievements transcended even the borders of the fifth continent: alongside her inventor husband, Paris Cockinos, Anastasia contributed to the development of materials used in the Apollo 11 mission, the historic mission that landed mankind on the Moon!
