Born in Karaiika, Achaia in 1939, Andrew Stathopoulos and his siblings experienced the pain of orphanhood at a young age, as their father left to fight in the Greco-Italian War and never returned. Andrew channelled the energy of his youth into his scissors and needles, learning the craft of tailoring in Patras. However, when his sister left the village and the family to emigrate to a continent that would become a new home for tens of thousands of Greeks, the young tailor sharpened his tools, packed his threads, and followed her into the unknown…
