“If I ever achieve something, I will give back to the world so that no child has to go through what I did.” These words were spoken by Dennis Patisteas from Athens when, as a young boy, he experienced the horrors of World War II. To fulfil this childhood promise, he emigrated to Australia, where he joined fellow Greeks and compatriots, contributing to the establishment of a displaced yet proud Hellenic community. Through his involvement in the coffee industry and his active participation in community affairs, this Greek migrant succeeded in honouring the promise he had made.
